28 Deltares SOFTWARE The Deltares Software Days were in June this year. The DSD-NL is an annual event and this was the sixth edition. The Deltares Software Days are the perfect opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with fellow users and Deltares experts. The programme consisted of interactive user days, interesting conferences, informative work­ shops and challenging courses. The Delft Software Days (DSD- INT 2017) will be from 23 October to 3 November 2017. This is the international equi­ valent of the Deltares Software Days and the event is organised in close cooperation with the Delft University of Technology and UNESCO-IHE. The DSD-INT provides a platform for meetings of the open source community, which currently has 15,000+ members in 200+ countries. More information: http://oss.deltares.nl Early warnings about floods worldwide. This is possible with the Global Flood Forecast viewer. The viewer shows the results of two combined forecasting systems and it covers the whole world. The models are used to generate forecasts between two and four times a day for soil moisture, river discharges, water levels and storm surges for the next seven to ten days. The forecasts can be used for early warnings in areas where no operational forecasts are available, or as boundary conditions for more detailed local models.
